With the Holiday Season upon us, it means guests will be frequenting your home for casual get-togethers, dining events, and parties. No matter your gathering, drink will undoubtedly be served, and everyone has that clumsy family member or friend that will inevitably spill their drink.
 

Direct Carpet Cleaners would like to relate a few tips on removing a few favorite holiday beverages from carpets and uphosltery.

 
Red Wine Stain Removal from Carpets & Upholstery: There are several methods to get red wine stains out, but today, we will just share the vinegar method.
• Blot the spill immediately with paper towels, and continue to blot until the liquid has stopped blotting up.
• Pour a few ounces of cool water directly over the blemished area, and blot again.
• In a container of your choice, mix together 1 TBS liquid dish soap, 1 TBS white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water (not hot).
• Soak a clean cloth in the mixture and began dabbing the remaining stain. Dab a clean, dry cloth in between treatments to keep moisture contained. You do not want the carpet soaked.
• Rinse the area with cool water, and blot dry with a dry cloth.
 
Hot Cocoa Stain Removal from Carpets & Upholstery:
• Blot excess liquid with paper towels.
• Mix together 1 TBS dish soap liquid with 2 cups warm water (not hot).
• Sponge the mixture on to the stain.
• Blot until all liquid is thoroughly sopped up.
• Allow to air dry.
 
Eggnog Stain Removal from Carpets & Upholstery:
• Use paper towels to remove excess. If necessary, you may need to use a spoon to get some of the bulk extracted from the area.
• Mix 1/4 tsp liquid dish soap in 2 cups warm water (not hot).
• Avoid using detergent or even a higher concentrated mixture.
• Rinse out the stain with warm water, be sure to blot up moisture in between, you do not want your carpet soaked.
• Sponge your mixture to the area and gently pat up the stain.
• If a residue persists, use a vinegar solution of 1 cup white vinegar and 2 cups warm water, and gently work the solution through.
• Rinse with warm water
• Using a clean, dry towel, blot up all moisture.
• Allow to air dry.
 
Cider Stain Removal from Carpets & Upholstery:
• Immediately blot the moisture with paper towels.
• Combine 1 TBS ammonia and 2 cups of warm water (not hot).
• Using a clean cloth, sponge the solution onto the targeted area,
• Gently work out the cider in circular patterns in addition to blotting.
• Rinse with warm water
• Towel dry the remaining liquid.
• Allow to air dry.
